It was perfectly quiet all night and absolutely still when I woke. Of course we were entirely alone in the anchorage, as always. Surprisingly there were no fishermen around when I looked out. It looked to be the start of a beautiful day. The weather looks good for today, and for our trip to VYC tomorrow. In fact, it looks good all week. I invited Jimbo to drive his new boat up here for lunch with us today, but he declined saying he has to get a couple things done on it first.

I placed my first order on Amazon since being back in the States. Didn't take long. I ordered replacement ear pads for our anchoring headsets and a new faucet for Annie's kitchen sink. They have been on my wish list.

By 9:00 there were quite a few fishermen in the area. We anchor far enough from shore so they can fish rather far from us and neither of us is disturbed. I was ambitious so I replaced the worn out non skid tape on the starboard side of the pilot house door. It looks much better. Then I sat out and had a second cup of coffee. At 10:30 most of the fisherman were gone, replaced by a few kayakers. I did not see any fish caught, but that was not my primary focus. After coffee, I cleaned the stainless steel on my grill. Kerry made a tuna fish salad and coleslaw lunch for us.

All morning I had debated with myself about whether I should wash Annie's waterline. It needed it. There was dirt and the beginnings of algae on it. On the other hand, the water looked cold. After lunch I dipped my toe in the lake and decided that the temperature was pretty nice. I tied a line from bow to stern, put on a life jacket and climbed down the swim ladder. 40 minutes later I had two clean sides. I W was very pleased with the results. Of course Kerry made me take a shower to wash the fish water, and whatever else she thought was in there, off.

We had a very pleasant happy hour sitting in front the pilot house on the bow. The breeze was just perfect to keep us cool. We talked about the trip we have just completed. What went well, what could have been better. We discussed the possibility of doing something different next year. Possibilities include a trip to Lake Michigan, including Mackinac Island and Charlevoix, redoing the Trent Severn Waterway, or possibly going to the Thousand Islands in Lake Ontario again, including a stop in Toronto. Time will tell.

There has been a bird hanging around Annie all day, a sea gull. It could be one that we fed pretzels to last night. So Kerry decided to throw it some crackers. Well, all hell broke loose as suddenly there were at least 6 gulls diving and squawking. Amazing how fast they reacted.

Kerry's bird diving for his cracker.

It was overcast most of the day here. I believe a lot of it was caused by the Canadian wildfire Smoke. Take a look at this map showing the smoke's location.

I grilled a steak for dinner. Kerry made potatoes I also grilled and garlic bread. I did a great job of grilling the steak, but it was horrible. It was full of gristle. It was from Canada. We don't like Canadian meats usually and this was a perfect reason why. In fact. we don't like most Canadian foods as well as American food. The quality seems very different.

Tomorrow we plan to leave here about 7:00 AM. We hope to be back in Vermilion by 10:00, to get ready for our 12:00 pickup by Anne. We are really glad we stopped here to East Harbor to wind down this trip. It's been good to relax and chill at one of our favorite places.

  1. Shower was unnecessary if the concern was “fish water”. Fish usually don’t come around when you are nearby!
