I just posted the results of Photo Contest 6. It's the one where we tried to stump the judges with partial pictures of items that they were charged to identify. Much to my amazement, Jim and Jola identified three out of four. Go to the post title Photo Contest 6 to see the pictures and results. Their prize was getting their picture posted in the blog. Certainly well worth the time they spent on the contest!

It was a beautiful quiet night here. A second blanket felt good as the temperature dipped into the low 60's. I woke up to mist gently rising off the water as the sun was starting its days work.

I saw Peter in his dingy starting over to me me up for fishing. More motor problems caused Peter to row most of the way over. The motor would not keep running. So we put my electric motor on his dinghy and set off fishing.

Row, row, row your boat . . .

We actually caught a fish today - a big 18" bass. And would you believe I caught him with a hot dog as Nancy's grandson suggested. He hit it as soon as it went into the water. That was the only fish of the day. The hot dog only worked once. Now that we caught a fish, need to perfect the art of cleaning one. There was not much fish left we we finished our cleaning - sadly.

We drifted past the entrance to Long Point Cove while we were out. I took a picture of a sailboat anchored near the entrance.

After we cleaned the fish (we each did one side) we had our usual cappuccinos and donuts. Kerry joined us this time, After that we towed my dinghy back to Voyager, switched the motor back to my boat, and I motored home. We had a nice lunch of shredded pork and sauerkraut.

Kerry and I took a tour of this beautiful area. It was hot but the breeze made it mostly comfortable. We went to Long Point Cove and there were only 3 boats in there. More than enough room for more. On our way in we passed a man who said he had just see a mother bear and two cubs on the island near us. We sailed around it but had no bear sightings. We agreed that a bear would make short work of this rubber dinghy, and said we'd find out just how fast that little motor could take us if the mother hopped in the water.

Peter worked on his motor for a couple hours. I was happy to hear it running. It appears much better, but not completely well yet as it died when he came over to give me an update. He was able to motor back to Voyager though. Kerry worked on her book and napped away the afternoon. I sat out in the sun and read the new Baldacci book, Calamity of Souls. It's excellent.

At 5:30 we went  to Voyager for dinner. Marianna had a nice happy hour for us on their back deck. She had made a pate out of our fish and it was delicious. For dinner we had her spicy curry pot dinner, one of Peter's favorite. It was very spicy and also delicious. We had a very nice evening and made it back to Annie by 8:00, well in time to close up before mosquito time. Kerry loves her dingy an has mastered the entry and exit process. Our little motor is working out just as we hoped.

Peter is unhappy with his motor. While it runs and starts for the most time, he never knows when it  won't do either and risks getting stranded far from Voyager should he go on a tour. He has no confidence in it at this point. He plans to call Norm, the mechanic in Gore Bay tomorrow, to see if he can repair it. If so, he may travel back there for the repair.

We plan to travel to Moiles Harbor tomorrow. The wind is going to pick up tomorrow afternoon and Thursday, so we will likely be there for two days. Environment Canada has issued a strong wind warning, which I take seriously. It's a 10 mile trip and will be made in the morning in light winds. Peter and Marianna were not sure what they would do if they do not go to Gore Bay. I've invited Peter for cappuccino and donuts tomorrow, and offered to pick him up.
