It was really cloudy early this morning. The weatherman has promised a nice day though, so I am optimistic. We had a small hatch of mayflies last night and the starboard side of Annie is the home for dozens of them. I was be able to rid Annie of them with my mop in about 5 minutes. I noted with lots of satisfaction several dead spiders which meant I had a successful spraying last night. After coffee, I opened the bike bags to let them dry out and bailed the water out of the dingy.

Kerry's basil is thriving this year. All of these plants are from one pot. |
By 8:15 I was making my second cup of coffee and I had already cleaned the port side rub rails. It makes such a difference when they have been treated. I just wish it lasted longer. The bad thing about being so close to the side of the boat cleaning is that I can see how much cleaning needs to be done on the fiberglass. Ugh.

Rub rail before and after cleaning and polishing |
I sent the Orros Happy Anniversary texts this morning. Peter replied that he had hoped to come over for cappuccinos and donuts but that that he was experiencing a migraine. He thinks the migraine was brought on by last night's play - and he is probably correct!

Gore Bay Summer Theater |
Kerry's Corner - The four cruisers decided to attend Gore Bay's Community Theater in the auditorium pictured above. While it was found that the production titled "Woman in Black" apparently had a successful 22 year run in London, the group of critics had some different perspectives based upon their own experiences. Critic Peter voiced in the paragraph above that the play may have significantly contributed to his severe migraine that almost immediately developed. Kerry's critique noted that she suffered through a confusing, somewhat muddled First Act which the actors did their very best to bring some clarity to, but to no avail. The Second Act somewhat redeemed the First although she was glad there was not a Third. Don's critique: "I think this was the worst summer play I have ever seen. "Maryanne critique: "Great acting: the widow in black sums up the play in her own words by saying absolutely NOTHING.!" All in all though, it was a fun evening with a nice walk back to the boats.

Paint and varnish supplies in new sealed container
We had a nice dinghy ride around the harbor. Lots of interesting boats to see and people to meet. We checked on Peter who was feeling much better. Kerry and I then walked to the grocery to be sure there was nothing we needed. Tomatoes and breakfast bars were the only items we found. We had excellent Salted Caramel ice cream cones on the way back. I wish I had discovered that store sooner. It's in the Fish and Chips building right near Annie.
Kerry appropriated my old paint and varnish container to use to organize items in the dinghy when we go riding. It worked out really well. Kerry has been cooking pork chops and sauerkraut in the slow cooker all day. Boy does it smell good. We'll have it at anchor as we are going to dinner tonight at the Water's Edge Restaurant.
We took our dinghy's across the harbor to the restaurant which has a little dinghy dock. We were lucky and got an outside table. It was so pleasant. It was great location to celebrate the Orros 40th Anniversary. We gave them each little presents and Peter bought us all dinner. Marianna received oven mitts and potholders. Peter got a nautical bottle opener and a pair of needle nose pliers for removing hooks from fish, which undoubtedly will be needed soon. We all enjoyed our dinners.
Happy 40th Anniversary to Peter and Marianna
I did discover what the source of my water leak in the lazzarett is not. Water has been leaking into my paint and varnish bucket. I thought it was rain water or a leak from waves coming over the stern when motoring. Well, I found water on top of my new container this afternoon. It had not rained and we have not motored. So, there must be an internal water leak. Water hoses are present near the area.

Tomorrow we will head 20 miles west towards Long Point Cove. It's a small, beautiful anchorage. We are hoping that with it being Monday, and with a big Great Lakes Cruising Club rally in Little Current, there will be plenty of room for us. After that we'll sail east down the channel and stop at some of the numerus anchorages in the area. In 5-7 days we should be back at Gore Bay.
Tis Voyager here: Thank you Don & Kerry for celebrating our 40th anniversary with us. The gifts were so thoughtful. I love my pot holders and mitt which match the interior colors of Voyager - thank you ❤️
ReplyDeletePeter loves his needle nose pliers which π€he can use to remove the hooks from the oodles of fish that he and Don plan to catch and the pretty nautical opener. ❣️
Will Kerry’s corner become a regular feature of the ‘25 blog ?ππ»
