I went to bed last night thinking we were here until Saturday. When I checked the weather this morning it occurred to me that there was a window this morning that we could use to travel to Kincardine before the winds picked up. The Orros were thinking the same thing. So when I sent a text to Marianna saying I thought we could travel she and Peter agreed and said they had reached the same conclusion. We had to wait until Marianna could reach the marina to be sure there were docks available as we would be three days early. Annie pulled out at 8:45, following Peter out into the lake. The winds were SE at 12, but forecast to diminish for the next few hours.

The wind did diminish as we sailed on. The forecasted storm came through too. Lots of heavy rain, but I did not hear any thunder. Voyager disappeared as visibility dropped. I turned on the radar and navigation lights. After about 1/2 hour conditions improved significantly. Peter sent a picture of his chartplotter screen with a radar overlay that looked like nautical art to me.

Overall, it was a nice voyage. We had rain a couple of times The winds were up and down. I think I saw lows of 3 and highs of 20.5 (using my new anemometer). We were near shore all the way, however, and with the wind coming over the land, the waves never had a chance to build. It took us 5 hours to cover the 40.0 miles. Our average speed was 7.9 knots and we've now gone 222 NM.

We are docked on the front wall near the office and showers. We are glad to be here and now are looking for a nice day to make the 70 mile open water trip to Tobermory. We paid for two nights dockage. The water is low, and with the fixed dock we are in, getting on and off Annie requires care. The docks are narrow and have tiny little cleats on them. Kerry and I both tripped over them yesterday. I ended up sprawled on the dock and Kerry barely saved her shoe from the sea, and rebruised the area run over by a tire - reigniting that sad episode. .

Low water and sneaky little cleats

We went to dinner at a nice restaurant named Georgie's after the owner's bassett hound dog. Both couples ordered delicious "designer" pizzas. We ate early and had plenty of time to relax on our boats before turning in. We watched a Netflix movie while sipping on Sambuca and Fireball in cordial glasses with our favorite tiny Karpinski ice cubes.

It was cold today. Long pants with sweatshirts was the favorite outfit for the walk to the restaurant. The winds appear to be too strong for travel the next two days. Rain is forecast for tomorrow, but with a nice stretch of dry weather during the day. Kerry has been wanting to wash Annie so tomorrow may be the day.

    1. How sad if I had lost ribs - or a martini too! Sure glad I stayed out of the drink!

  2. Tis Voyager here: I can attest to the narrowness, the wobbliness , and off set cleats that are most assuredly a tripping hazard. We were on that dock last year. I did not realize that you fell, Don 😢
