Monday, June 23, 2025, Port Huron, MI

Peter came over for his cappuccino at 8:00, bringing a plate of little white powdered donuts.  He's stepped up his game, but I am a little deficient as I don't yet have whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles to make the cappuccinos perfect. We had a mini Skipper's Meeting and decided that tomorrow may be an OK travel day. We'll decide later today. 

Kerry was up at 8:30 to walk to CVS. It's supposed to be 96 today so we wanted to get an early morning start. We needed thank you and graduation cards and some cosmetics to keep Kerry beautiful. To our surprise, the store is really a short distance from the marina and a very quick walk. 


Then we were off to the Kerr Albert Office Supply Store which has a post office in it. Kerry hoped to get tracing paper too, but they, or a second supply store, did not have it. We mailed thank you card to the cousins, and a congratulations card to our nephews daughter who graduated high school.We walked through the marine store on the way back to the boat. We got about 5000 steps. It was hot but not yet unbearable. I was proud of Kerry for making the trip in the heat. A cool ice tea and air conditioned boat were very welcome once we returned. 

Another lazy hot afternoon. Kerry washed some clothes in our sink and hung them to dry on the top deck. I read, filled the water tanks and tired to stop a little fresh water leak, but was unable to get the plug needed at the hardware store. 

At 4:30, Peter and I took off in our bikes to get our favorite fried chicken. Only delicious chicken could get us to take off on bikes in 95 degree heat. It's about a 10 minute ride to the restaurant. Well worth it. We ate the delicious chicken on Voyager. I bought an extra 4 piece package so we can eat chicken when we travel again.

We agreed to leave tomorrow for Bayfield Ontario. We set 8:00 AM as our departure time. Harder to negotiate was the travel speed on the lake. Annie likes 8.5 knots, Voyager is happy with 8.0. 8.25 was the unsurprising compromise. It's a 7 hour, 50 mile trip. Travel weather looks good, not perfect, but certainly OK. Fingers crossed!

    I had a lot of catching up reading to do. What an adventure you and Kerry have. I spent the past 3 days in 2 hospitals and I have more coming up. (Too long a story to tell about now and I don't want to interfere with your "adventures.") Looking forward to more reading. Enjoy. P For Life.

As usual, before a travel day I tossed and turned a lot last night. While we are not going far today, we are departing for 8 weeks or so, which makes it a major departure.  We spent yesterday doing final preparations for our trip. I also got a ride on Jimbo's new boat, Liberty 3, which was fun. We had a dinner in the club house attended by the Kumars, Karpinski's, Orros and us. We all brought our own food. I grilled ribs. I'm a little off my blogging game and did not get a picture of the event, but it was a nice final dinner at VYC.  We watched two episodes of "Alone", a History Channel show we enjoy before turning in about 9:00 PM. We have Starlink now which gives us great internet. I'm sure to be talking about it many times in upcoming blog posts.  Our departure time is not determined, but likely around noon. Friday, June 27, 2025, Kincardine

It was a nice change to wake up this morning and see some blue sky through the V-Berth hatch. It's been very cool and gray the last couple of days. A quick weather check showed a high today in the low 80's, sun and clouds, rain holding off until happy hour and high winds on Lake Huron for today and tomorrow. Sunday looks looks like it could be a travel day North to Tobermory. Here's hoping. Kerry cleaned and straightened the main cabin last night before she turned in. She had my coffee cup and an orange sitting out on the table for me too. How sweet!  Peter came over for his morning cappuccino. He was out of powdered white donuts, but still welcome- just not as welcome. His review of the weather was the same as mine, that is, probably good to travel on Sunday, and that today is a nice day to take off on our bikes to the hardware and grocery stores.
