It was a nice change to wake up this morning and see some blue sky through the V-Berth hatch. It's been very cool and gray the last couple of days. A quick weather check showed a high today in the low 80's, sun and clouds, rain holding off until happy hour and high winds on Lake Huron for today and tomorrow. Sunday looks looks like it could be a travel day North to Tobermory. Here's hoping.
Kerry cleaned and straightened the main cabin last night before she turned in. She had my coffee cup and an orange sitting out on the table for me too. How sweet!
Peter came over for his morning cappuccino. He was out of powdered white donuts, but still welcome- just not as welcome. His review of the weather was the same as mine, that is, probably good to travel on Sunday, and that today is a nice day to take off on our bikes to the hardware and grocery stores. We set 11:00 as the time to go.
Kerry and I walked downtown. Like most downtowns, Kincardin has a few empty storefronts, fewer retail shops and more office spaces. Since we are docked on the front wall, near the office and showers, it is a very short distance to downtown. We are glad to be here and now are looking for a nice day to make the 70 mile open water trip to Tobermory. We paid for two nights dockage.
After coffee, Don and Peter then went for a bike ride to the outlands looking for a Canadian Tire, a grocery store, or a Liquor Store. While gone, Kerry washed some laundry out in the sink and hung it up on a line on the upper deck. Maryanne has laundry sheets called People Clean that she took to Europe that makes it easy to do hand cleaning, especially on a boat. Don ordered me some for our Viking Cruise in August. - Kerry
Peter and I had success at Canadian Tire. He was able to get a new siphon with a pump handle and I was able to get a USB to HDMI adapter for my television viewing. This will allow me to return Peter's to him in case he decides he wants to use it. Peter even got breakfast at Tim Horton's while I grocery shopped - powdered donuts are back in stock! Back at the boat, I dug our new airfryer out of the motor room so I could reheat the last of my Port Huron fried chicken. It's not as nice as the one it replaced, but it's only half the weight - important for lifting in and out of the motor room.
Another lazy afternoon for Annie's crew. Kerry did some laundry and napped. There is no laundry here now as it had two separate fires and was destroyed. So laundry is being done the old fashioned way, by hand, and dried on clothes lines I filled a fender with air, smoked a little cigar and read in the sun before having a nice long shower.
Peter an Marianna went back to Georgie's for another pizza dinner. We had BLT's on Annie. The plan was for us to meet them downtown and attend the car show. Unfortunately some big thunderstorms came through just as that was to happen. So instead they hurried to Annie from the restaurant where we shared after dinner liquors, just beating the rain. Marianna brought cherry pies with her making the Orros very welcome!
Later Kerry and I watched a Netflix movie. I got a notice from them that they have canceled my password so I need to reset it. Seems like someone in New Jersey was using my account. Well, that's the location Express VPN is using for my Chromebook. I can watch Netflix without the VPN so it seems like that's what I should start doing.
Today we received a call from our neighbor Maureen's daughter in law saying that she was going to move into assisted living and that her house would be sold. Maureen is the widow of neighbor Dave who always took care of our home when we were gone. Dave died almost exactly 1 year ago. They moved in to their home about 6 months before we bought ours. We've had a wonderful relationship with them for 37 years. It makes me sad to know this relationship is ending. Now we are the oldest second owners on our cul de sac. We should move to a condominium as much as we are gone, but don't know where we would want it to be.
Kerry doing laundry and you are out peddling for a liquor store! Some things never change!!
